Which is why I moved to Debian/Ubuntu based and haven’t looked back. But functionally, nearly every distro has a different strength and purpose, so go with whatever piques your interest.
I’m a recent convert from Mint Cinnamon to Kubuntu. I would definitely recommend it for being user friendly.

Now, I am not intimately familiar with Autodesk products, but I have this extensively with other Windows only software and the VM option has worked great. Some VR platforms will even run the Windows part in the background and let you run your application right on your Linux desktop like any other Linux app.
Equipment can be very cheap and still be effective. My niece used to catch decent sized perch with a pink plastic rod that came with line and basic tackle (pink hooks!) for like $15. The local surplus store near me has all kinds of cheap but decent rods, hooks, line, lures, etc. for cheap. The main expense is time. If you live near a spot with good fishing, you’re very lucky. In Southwestern Ontario where I am, it’s a few hours drive to decent fishing.

Clear Linux was maintained by Intel and specifically tuned to Intel hardware. The speed enhancement it has over other distros is only possible on a very limited set of hardware.
