The early bird gets the worm.
They are amost always large after a good rain.
One day, I was walking along a sidewalk after a rain, and there was a large earthworm on the sidewalk.
At the same time, a robin ahead of me had also spotted the worm.
We had a bit of a staredown for a bit. I stopped, and told the robin, no, you go ahead, you can have it.
Normally, I will try to save the worms by moving them to a less saturated location.
I watched for minutes as this robin broke the worm into bite sized pieces.
I thought the robin would choke to death, it was so hungry.
