The user interface itself is amazing, true seamless multiple device support - including web clients (with your drafts synced on all your devices too), live location sharing, polls, live voice channels, good stickers, bots, public groups/channels, 2gb file sharing, video messages, usernames, etc.
Signal is only good at doing one thing, and that’s encryption. It lacks so many useful features that Telegram has.
What if you run the portable version of Firefox? How would they know?
I never said that lemmy.ca had more performance, I said the ping was lower and responsiveness was better.
I have an account on lemmy.world, but when I ping it, I’m in the 100ms. I ended up on lemmy.ca where the ping is 3ms average, it makes a big difference in responsiveness.
Organic Maps is indeed open source and available through f-droid/GitHub/Telegram.
It’s actively developed and it’s UI is more easier to use than OSMAnd. The search accuracy is also way better than in OSMAnd, in which I often can’t find places.
OSMAnd is pretty nice, but Organic Maps is just way better IMHO.
Have you tried OnlyOffice? It’s pretty much like MS office and documents compatibility is really good.
Good tips! I should have explained a bit more, but by getting a server as close as possible, your ping should theoretically be lower than an instance that’s far from you (I know, the internet is not a straight line to the server).
The best way to test this is by pinging the server in a CMD prompt/terminal.
Yeah, I also have one on lemmy.ca, the ping is more consistent (both are 2-3ms).
Try registering on a smaller instance that’s more responsive, with a better ping by being closer to your house.
This, but also an instance with a good ping, close to your house.
Try another instance, as close to your home as possible.
You can browse the map here https://lemmy.fediverse.observer/map
Try wefwef.app (go to this website and install it as an app/add it to your homescreen), it’s simply amazing.
As for network errors, try switching to an instance close to your house with a low ping, it’ll make a big difference. Go to https://fediverse.observer/map and select Lemmy instances.

That’s what I always said. Signal only does one thing right, encryption, and that’s it. The rest isn’t great, they kept the server side code hidden for 1 year to implement the shitty MoxieCoin (so Moxie and his friends could get rich) and removed SMS recently.
I moved to Telegram and the features are so great there’s no way I’ll ever use Signal. If you really need E2EE you can use it in personal chats. For regular chats, the fact that you have access to all your messages from everywhere is really convenient.
Because the only good thing about Signal is it’s encryption.
