Edit: I for sure wouldn’t touch these though. You can probably use a meter across the 4 terminals without even having to disconnect anything. It might just be the kind of wiring that you use for a 3 way switch with the ground wire sheathed. What was the device?

One of them is EXACTLY 8 ASCII characters, may not contain any English dictionary word, no repeating character. At least 1 number, and at least 1 special characters. Just obliterates the search space.

I believe I understand the perspectives, but I’m unconvinced that there isn’t asymmetry. It’s one person’s job.

I flat out do not trust each of the 500 devs operating on our codebase to maintain comments.

Tests are documentation, code can be documentation. Those run through CI.

If you can keep comments updated at scale, do it. If you can’t don’t pray for a miracle and find something that you actually can enforce
