Bootygig would piss a lot of the base off to pass over a POC woman who would literally be president anyways the moment Joe croaks.

He’s probably a better pick for the country, but the DNC doesn’t give a shit about that. I don’t think he’s a particularly strong pick, but he’s better than Harris.

I think the best option to win the election would be to pick someone that’s not a part of the current administration. And we can definitely count on that not happening. The DNC is too up their own ass with everyone getting their compensation for previous “support” once the positions open up.

  • In the US speed cameras are viewed as revenue generating devices, instead of devices meant to protect the public safety. So most places have laws against them because the voters see it as “you just want to charge me for speeding” instead of “people breaking the speed limit are unsafe and need to be stopped”. So instead speeding is mostly enforced by actual police on the road (or pulled slightly off the road) using radar guns. The idea being if you were speeding enough to make a policeman bother to turn the siren on, track you down, and issue the ticket, you must have been doing something pretty unsafe.

  • I’m using a sandwich style case with the PCIE port at the top of the case and the 3 scews for the slots are at the bottom. It basically pushing the card up and backwards into the PCIE extension cable’s slot. No ass sag, but I can tell there’s a limit to how much it would be able to handle like that. I’ve got a 7900xt (not xtx) so it works for what I need right now.

I’m hoping the reason this debate was agreed to so early is that the DNC needs to know if they’ve got to work out a plan B. The convention is scheduled for the end of August so until then Biden isn’t the official candidate. Like, if in 2 months they’re polling at 30%, I don’t see how they can go “oh yeah, this is definitely a losing strategy. Let’s stick with it”. Why not switch it up? You’re losing already. The worst that can happen is you still lose.

  • “the order in which the system discovered it” is not deterministic

This is the same problem they had with hard drive names and it seems to have been solved in a sensible way, i.e. /dev/sda still points to the first disk detected by the system, but you can look look in /dev/disk/by-path (or by-uuid, etc) to see the physical address of the devices on the system and what they are symlinked back to, and set your fstab or mdadm arrays to be configured based on those unique identifiers instead.

So, I guess what I’d like to know is why hasn’t this been solved the same way? When you boot up they should present every hard wired Ethernet port as ethX, and the hardware address interface should be present as well but aliased back to the eth. Then you can build the your network configs based on either one.

    Shouldn’t be that hard right?

  • I think Sony wants out of the physical console market. They just don’t know how to do it. The consoles are sold at a loss, but the games sales are massive returns on investments.

If they can double their sales by releasing on steam at the cost of 30% per sale, they still come out ahead, and can save all the R&D cost on developing a physical console, plus the loss from each individual console sale.

  • I’m impressed with my pixel’s ability to do it. I forget it’s on sometimes and I’ll walk in a pub. Having only been inside 5 seconds and my phone in my pocket the whole time, it already has the song playing on display on the lock screen. Its almost like it works better when the volume is lower. I have a harder time detecting music with it if I turn the volume up or hold it near a speaker. Put it my pocket and have 30 people talk over it? Probably has a 95%+ successful detection rate in those conditions

  • Solo was pretty alright - worth seeing once. And Andor was fantastic.

Seriously, if you like star wars but find everything you’ve seen under the Disney release umbrella to be underwhelming at best, watch Andor. It is incredible. The worst thing about it is it is proof that good Star Wars content can be made today, and instead all the make is garbage.
