I’m doing the GBA Jam 2024, so it’s for the Gameboy Advance. There is a manager library called Butano that’s made the process easier, which could be an engine in a really loose definition.

Besides Butano, I’m just writing all the other things that engines like Unity/Unreal usually manage as part of the project. A 2D top down adventure game is a good first intro because there’s not a lot that you need a dedicated engine for, and it’s actually been a breeze compared to trying to make something in the Unity editor.

I entered my first game jam a couple days ago, engineless, and I’m making progress! I only have demo scenes currently, but actors (including a player), map rendering, scene states and contexts, etc are all working so far! Next up is collision!

I’m making an adventure game almost entirely inspired by a popular Nintendo franchise. Specifically ALttP.

I feel bad for ripping off a game idea, but there’s not enough games that scratch that itch for me!

It can be quite expensive, but after 20 different antidepressants and antipsychotics, I’ve considered it. My latest medications were $1738/m and $1800/m respectively. That’s like $60 per pill that I need to take daily. I’m in a fortunate position with amazing health insurance that will cover it.

Ketamine is $1200 every 3 months, includes therapy, and has cheaper daily nasal spray to maintain the treatment.

Also, recreational Ketamine is different. There’s Ketamine (recreational) and S-Ketamine (therapeutic). It does absolutely give you psychedelic effects, but it wouldn’t be as fun of a thing to take in your spare time as Ketamine.

Those are for their VPN and other services, not Mozilla Firefox or their contribution to web standards. The foundation is separate from their for-profit tools.

I live in one of these. They’re amazing, and totally changed my mind on apartments. I just wish I had an extra room and a lower floor. I can get a garage for $100/m which is not bad at all.

Anything cheap is going to be bad. We need to raise the standards to a minimum. The unfortunate thing I need to move to a house to be closer to my new job, otherwise an apartment like this would be fine.

That’s how polls work. I’m not sure if you genuinely don’t know, but that’s just how they are done.

You can very accurately extrapolate data on the entire population with just 1000 participants. The flaw is in geography distribution, population distribution, willingness to poll, and other types of sample bias, but if they account for those then that’s perfectly valid.

Schools sign the contracts themselves for license deals. The program either doesn’t collect the same data, or doesn’t collect anything other than analytics.

They do this in Enterprise too. All of our enterprise software is a special version made for distribution. No EULA is involved.

I always upvote Noodle. This specific video led me to leave my workplace abuse as a dev, and just about just about everyone else I worked with left as well once they saw people leaving. What’s the fun in that?

I don’t have either for the actual cartridge reading, only specs for memory mappers. I found a pinout of the cartridge and I’m just toggling the 6 control pins until things work to find out how to read data. I’m still not 100% sure how they work or their timings.

I’ll make a writeup and YT video when I’m done documenting it. I couldn’t find any good information about it online besides some writeups that seemed to leave out information on the control pins, or old sites on archive.org, so hopefully it’ll help someone else.
