I feel like the flip phone should be an accessory to the screen box. It’s a superior device to chatting and hanging up, just make it Bluetooth and snap into the back of the phone.

The word “pinny” pulled forth visceral memories of my middle school. Wow, impressive.
#MegatronDidNothingWrong…?
Pretty sure the goal here is to funnel more money to Trump.
I’m sure the dish is delicious. But when I go to a restaurant and I have to do work to eat to food, I always get annoyed. I’m paying for this meal so I don’t have to work, dammit.
The only problem they ever had was back in the day they overheated easily.
Very easily.
In college (early aughts), I worked as tech support for fellow students. Several times I had to take the case cover off, point a desktop fan into the case, and tell the kid he needed to get thermal paste and a better cooler (services we didn’t offer).
Also, as others have said, AMD CPUs have not always been superior to Intel in performance or even value (though AMDs have almost always been cheaper). It’s been a back-and-forth race for much of their history.
Has been and always will be stegosaurus. How can you not love those bone plates and spiked tail? Dude’s a beast.
That said, ankylosaurus comes in at a close second. It’s armor is pretty boss.
- To-go orders get NOTHING.
My comment is entirely scoped to to-go orders; I agree with everything else you say (though I haven’t used a ride share in forever).
I always tip for to-go orders in my hometown. Now my favorite places call out my name as I enter and treat me great. I’ve seen them replace the pizza stacked with my order with a fresh pizza right out of the oven, for example, or they’ve given me an extra pizza or side.
When I’m on the road, I still tip $1 for to-go orders because I know the workers are still getting a shit wage.
Granted, I’m in a financial position where I can afford to do this. But I’d love if we could get rid of the whole tipped-minimum-wage thing and just raise minimum wages across the board/enact UBI to make tipping only for exemplary service.
They won’t be above it all for long!
Captchas haven’t been effective at protecting important websites for years, they just keep the script kiddies away who can’t afford the tools.
To be fair, keeping the script kiddies away has some good value. Whether that value outweighs all the wasted time and impact to sight/hearing impaired people is another discussion.
Let me restate your point to make sure I understand it, as I haven’t seen your point expressed elsewhere.
Scenario 1:
In this scenario, having a more progressive president in 2028 (and beyond) outweighs the damage caused by a Trump presidency.
Scenario 2:
In this scenario, avoiding a Trump presidency is worth giving up the opportunity to move the democratic party permanently more leftwards.
Do I have this right? If not, please, I’m truly curious, as I find your game theory points compelling.
Assuming I do have your position correct, I think you’re making a couple of inaccurate assumptions:
I agree that the more we push the party leftward, the better for all. But I believe the time to do this is in presidential primaries, state/county/local elections, local and national organizing, and even personal outreach to individuals (admittedly, this last one is very small scale, but it’s also the only way to truly change people’s minds and positions).
No matter how much you think both candidates are shit, you must be able to realize that one is far and beyond worse than the other.
You’re right that I left a crucial element out of my admittedly simplistic two step process. We should pressure Biden to be better and to stop supporting the genocide in Gaza.
I consider myself to be solidly left, maybe not full-on progressive but supportive of many progressive policies. And I think Biden has been a good president when you consider the context he’s been given. I don’t have time to write it all out now, but if I did, I’d be glad to argue that Biden had been a good (not great) president. I think the millions who have had their student debt cancelled, bought OTC birth control, got off unemployment and into a job would agree.
Granted, Biden’s campaign hasn’t done a good job, groceries are still too damned expensive, and he hasn’t stopped the genocide in Gaza. But, save a violent nationwide revolution, the 2024 presidential ballot is Biden vs. Trump. And, on the issue of the genocide, Trump has demonstrated he’d be an enthusiastic supporter of Israel, much more than Biden.
Biden hasn’t been great. He dragged his feet on issues he campaigned on (e.g., student debt relief), he sounds eve older than he is, and perhaps most gallingly, he didn’t unequivocally renounce the genocide in Gaza immediately. Inflation sucks and wages aren’t high enough for most to survive, let alone thrive. I can name a dozen progressives off the top of my head I’d rather have as president.
First past the post voting and the two-party system give us little chance at the national level for meaningful fast change.
But have you seen the shit Trump has promised he will do as president? We all learned an important lesson from the first Trump presidency: take him seriously, not literally. I shouldn’t need to list the things Trump has promised to do, but here’s a highlight reel:
And he won’t stand in the way of any of the Project2025 insanity the GOP wants to pursue.
So, on the left, you have an old man who has maybe made things a little better for some too slowly while ignoring a genocide. On the right, you have an old man who endorses that same genocide, promises to make the country an actively worse place for many, and who has empirically proven he will encourage and endorse insurrection and treason to stay in power.
The best play for the future is two-pronged:
You might be thinking of NATO, of which Ukraine is not (yet) a member state.
Oh wait, now I realised that’s basically r2d2
Is that a bad thing?
… but it becomes an annoying game of cat ND also cat…
Hello, The Monarch:

Be careful, you might start a new birther rumor.
