I once saw The Rock described as “a less embarrassing Steven Seagal” and I’m really coming around to that description.

Oh, it’s definitely funny. I’m just on the look out now to be sure he doesn’t become some sort of contrarian edge lord.
He wore it yesterday and said that he didn’t start much of a debate sadly. I think he got addicted to the feeling he got when he defended evolution in class and it turned into a very big thing from what his teachers told me (in a good way, they liked it).
Child asked for a pride flag shirt “to be a good ally” and I thought that was sweet, but when it didn’t arrive on time from the little shop we ordered it from, he got a little upset. Turns out he wants to troll his classmates with it, basically. He told me they’re “all” Christian and don’t believe in gay rights. Need to definitely refine and hone these contrarian tendencies, but hopefully his spite-based belief system will give way to real support.
Warning, you will cause the Birdemic.
RIP. 30 years today.
I think another round of Animatrix films would be more interesting than this, but I’m interested to see what fresh ideas can be inserted into the general concept even with my love of everything the Wachowskis have done.
I think it was a nice cap to characters that we care about and giving them a happy ending if you want that sort of thing. The limited budget shows a bit, it doesn’t feel quite as grand as the other Matrix films. I don’t think it had as much to say philosophically, so much as just a nice revisit to a universe that’s interesting and has a lot more stories in it.
This is copypasta from the old Chapo sub from someone angry about the mods closing the sub down for a day as a joke.
Even going further back, games like Phantasy Star and Ninja Gaiden featured cinematic cut scenes of a type on the 8-bit consoles. It’s been a part of the medium since basically the beginning.
A remake of Dangerous Minds where instead a teacher with off the wall ideas has at risk kids make ten tiktok dances to convey the sacking of Rome by the Holy Roman Empire.
The closest I’ve gotten to that feeling with something that’s a little less dangerous is kettlebell training. There’s a martial arts feel to some of the unique bell movements, like the snatch or the high pull, where you move your body explosively, but with precise form. Olympic lifting kind of does this, but it has nothing on kettlebells imo. Moving 62 lbs of iron around your forearms as you sling it through the air feels so cool once you’ve mastered it. If you haven’t tried them, I’d recommend it.
Shape of Punk was so good, truly ahead of their time. A shame it never broke through the stranglehold nu metal had on popular “heavy” music. I wasn’t a huge fan of Freedom, but War Music sounds more like something they would have made if they didn’t take a break and I enjoyed it.
I am going to look up Face Yourself. There’s only a few deathcore bands I listen to (Make Them Suffer, Brand of Sacrifice, a few others), but I always want new stuff!
Those "EP"s are just the lead singles off the new album, which is coming out April 19th. So don’t sweat too much haha
But yeah, they rule. Took a little time between this album and their last, but it appears to have been worth it. Everything they’ve put out so far is really good in the lead up.
Reading the replies apparently I’m not the only one really confused by this clique and what it actually is. Oh, well. That explanation is good enough to know one thing: lol @ Brianna Wu
OK, I looked up the Wu thing and now I’m even more confused. Might be officially getting too old to keep up with this type of stuff.
Oh, man. I’d love to be able to watch it again for the first time. Enjoy!
I apologize for the very Reddit comment, but user name checks out.
Recently showed my child They Live and he absolutely loved it. One of my all time favorite films, so it was really nice to share something like that with him and have it catch on with him. He’s been quoting some lines from it on and off since we watched it.
Definitely watch Dune. it’s like living in an alternate universe where Marvel movie didn’t have such a huge influence on blockbusters. Which, even if you like marvel, you have to admit we’re getting a lot of lately and a change of pace is good.
