This makes me realize that there’s actually been progress: I haven’t heard an acquaintance asking about a missing link to try and disprove evolution for at least a decade. That’s just my experience, but I used to hear it a lot.

I know a different version from the other two:
There once was a man from Nantucket
Who put all his shit in a bucket
And one day he tripped
And the bucket, it flipped
And he said “ah well fuck it”
The heat fills my brain and I can’t think about anything else
American living in Germany, working happily at a German bakery. Brötchen can be absolutely spectacular and I love German bread, but I still miss bagels. I’ve never had a good one here, but the ones you find in the grocery store are basically similar to grocery store bagels in the US(though sometimes they’re not boiled here, which explains why they might seem like Brötchen with a hole).
It’s honestly similar to good Laugengebäck, just without the taste of lye (Lauge), which makes sense. If that’s not appealing to you, sure, but my homemade bagels (which are good but not spectacular, compared to some bagels I’ve had) have always been a hit among the Germans I’ve made them for.
They’ll make an absolutely stellar flavor, then make a documentary about destroying the recipe.
Yeah, otherwise I’d just make a key lime pie. I’m an experienced baker, but don’t have a big sweet tooth, so I haven’t done much non-bread baking lately and am pretty new to (and somewhat apprehensive of) vegan patisserie.
What is this flag, other than a striated version of the modern German flag?
We’re doing all sorts of things to get better at it 😊
Ironic that this got you banned in c/Europe
Also, you have to know what a better way to handle a situation is. If someone’s the type of person who hits a kid for misbehavior, maybe they don’t know how to do better.
My husband and I are in our mid thirties, and are actively holding off on kids until we feel like we’ve gotten better at managing our emotions. Our parents had kids much earlier, and ended up exercising their emotional dysfunction on small children
Technically slowing down is also a form of acceleration, because it’s a change in speed/direction. Technically the US is developing, just downwards.
I can’t tell if that’s sarcasm or if megachurches just Walmart local churches
You have given my husband a new headache, I thank you dearly
Talking to them doesn’t help. I’m a German teacher for new immigrants and I explained how poorly people adjust to a new country when all they wanted was something different, and they condescended to me about not letting my personal experience (with scores of students) color my opinion 🤦
I just hope anyone who’s interested based on what they’re saying adequately prepares themselves. I’m personally a proponent of freer global migration and language teaching, but it’s laughable to think that it’s general advice for people who don’t like their current situation.
My favorite song is 500 Miles by Peter, Paul & Mary, and everyone thinks I’m talking about the Proclaimers version unless I specify, so I think it’s pretty well known.
To be fair, that would be a good source of riboflavin.
