It’s more that they immediately started talking bad about other orgs on social media and completely circumvented the existing organizing infrastructure for pro-Palestine demonstrations that has been going strong for 6 months now, being run but those very same orgs they were badmouthing and who have been in the game a long time. That and the “escalation” rhetoric just puts up red flags to me.

Idk if anyone else has thinks this, but this group is… a bit sketchy. Popped up out of no where, amassed a big following very quickly, have a professional website, not tied to any pre-existing orgs and none of the local orgs in my area know anything about them. They aren’t responding to emails and are completely anonymous. They also came out hot by attacking some local orgs as well, and have explicit social media posts encouraging “escalation.” Also have seen different accounts across different social media pages copy and pasting the exact same messages attacking local orgs. I am not heavily involved in local organizing so I could just be totally off base but I am really apprehensive of this.

The most involved people on the ground have a front row seat to the Biden show and see the damage he has done in regards to our social safety nets. Reeks of utter BS idk anyone like this who gives a fuck about voting for Biden

Got some baseball sized hail last year, was lucky to only have some dents on the car. It was kind of a traumatizing to witness and hear tbh. Sounded like thousands of light bulbs being smashed on the ground.

Also they literally sent in the National Guard to murder youth protestors in addition to other incidences of violence against demonstrators. The social-protest movement didn’t just “peter out”

It could be an interesting choice to highlight the class unity of the bourgeoisie and that Texas’ and California’s economic power is far more important than superficial American politics… but we know it won’t be lol

I knew some people in the aerospace biz who worked at SpaceX. They had nothing but horrible words to say about him lol everyone thinks he is a joke and dumb as bricks.

I think that’s exactly why certain words are considered obscene or inappropriate- to tone police and shutdown righteous anger. It forces us to stifle the rage we feel towards the bullshit around us in response, as well.

I thought papers were bad in my field but boy does political science produce some absolute slop

Thanks for doing this book club. I have come to suspect I may be autistic and this community and this book have really helped me explore that. I have wanted to start interacting with other autistic and neurodivergent people for a while but have been afraid. So, this has nothing specifically to do with this chapter but just wanted to put myself out there so I can start interacting with the community more and relate to others and learn more about myself. I’ll try to have something more valuable to add to the discussion about the book in the future!
