I was mildly interested until she took a mixer to the liquid and whipped cream….just use cream at that point! What a waste.
IT nerd and synthesizer player from Ohio. Reddit refugee, here to stay.

I bought a Boox Palma. The screen cracked on the first day. I wholeheartedly do not recommend them as a company as their customer support response is always “not our fault.” A quick google will find others who had the same experience I did.
I am an IT professional. I have had Kindles and Kobos and have NEVER had a screen break on any device. This company needs to be called out and boycotted.
Per the post…Android itself is old, yes…but they never promised security updates…only updates to the firmware. I don’t have a problem with this. Retroid is similar in that their devices are not current android, though not nearly as bad as Boox. It all depends on how you use a device as to if this is really an issue or not.
While this is stereotypically true, my grandparents that passed away 14 years ago were avid gamers. They adored their NES and bought a SNES when the NES died. I think it is worth inquiring with local nursing homes to see if they have anyone that has gaming experience. My grandma’s favorite game was Loopz. Grandpa’s was golf. Puzzle games especially are good for that age group as they keep the brain busy but don’t necessarily require adept fine motor speed like other genres.
Hm. No idea then. Well at least you found a workaround.
Yeah. I have a newer Kobalt blower that takes the new batteries compared to the mower we got in like 2014 and it does not perform as well. We intentionally avoided Kobalt for that reason. Plus the blower seems to eat away at charge if you store the batteries in the blower. I now store all batteries loose to prevent draining. Wonder if my experience is related. Do you store the batteries loose or in the mower/blower/weed eater?
We just replaced our 10 year old electric mower (old battery Kobalt) with a new one. We had three batteries and only recently did we feel their life wasn’t long enough for our nearly half acre lot. Out of curiosity…How old is your mower? Our new mower has self propelled and can do the whole yard with juice to go again. I do feel that you get what you pay for with electric mowers. We went with a mid grade and a reputable brand since we know we will hold into it for ages. I recommend to folks to always buy one that is marketed for larger than what you have if you are gonna hold onto it because batteries degrade normally so it is good to plan for that.
100% this. I found the book “The Gifts of Imperfection” by Brene Brown to be very helpful with mentally working through this. I still feel guilt occasionally but knowing that I am the way I am and that guilt does not provide a productive resolution to the “problem” typically is enough to pull me through.
I believe it is a peanut butter alternative.
Thank you for pointing this out! I was using Memmy because it was first on the App Store but have since switched back to Mlem (which I did beta for). It is a hell of a lot more fresh on features!
Orange ones were the best! My favorite thing was leaving them be in my mouth until they were almost melted through the skin and then smoosh it on the roof of my mouth with my tongue. Man. I had forgotten about these!
Those look sick. I haven’t delved much into patching but the black system iii looks like a ton of fun. Haven’t seen the MEGAfm. How would you describe it?
I’m really pleased with mine. I figured out if you use nickelmenu it is possible to have the games too! That is the only way I have found to access them. For some reason Kobo isn’t making them accessible even with devmodeon enabled.
I upgraded from an Aura H20 Edition 2 so I notice a distinct upgrade in speed and function. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine!
After having a terrible experience with an Onyx Boox Palma breaking within 24 hours of receipt…I’m glad I rage bought a Kobo Libra Colour lol.
I am an IT nerd so I use Linux to learn more about the OS and programming. This was the original reason and still is the reason I keep a Linux machine on hand. Current machine is a dual-boot LG Gram running Windows 11 (wanted to keep the original OS so just shrunk it) and Arch Linux. It runs on Arch 90% of the time. Really only boot the windows partition to use it for work.
I’m not certain they are referring to the game of patience (typically Klondike) or the fact that clock solitaire is rough statistically…1% win rate.
My first experience with installing Linux on a hard drive involved wiping the wrong hard drive (my dad’s) and installing on it. Then panicking when Windows 95 didn’t boot up. Thank goodness my dad was understanding lol.
Looks like clock solitaire. https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/clock-solitaire-rules-412468
Thanks for this. Added to book to my to read list. I have unmedicated ADHD (cannot tolerate meds for it) and this resonated with me. It is also a good reminder that even people that seem like they are intentionally not doing the work or task at hand might have some reasoning behind not doing it! It is easy to forget sometimes that I am not alone in my struggles and other reasons for being “lazy” exist.
The fact that the hacker said “thank you, take care” is just hilarious to me.
This is really good for a person starting out with a DSLR. You have a great composition here. I recommend learning by experimentation and inquiring with others. A lot of photography concepts are covered well on YouTube. I learned a lot from Ken Rockwell though I know a lot of people don’t care for him. One thing to invest in is a good tripod. Take the same photo with multiple settings until you find what you want. Though knowing techniques is good and desirable, a lot of decisions are subjective to you as the photographer.
