You know anyone is capable of telling the same thing, but about proprietary code or about that stance you have? Not everyone has to follow the FSF steps nor LInux-Libre, they’re there for people who want them and follows their principles. They do what they think is right and invest in that, you don’t so you don’t invest in that. I think it’s great for them to work in projects like GNU Health, Linux-Libre or even Hurd (if it’s even active) so we can see more free software development in the future and free software culture in things like health devices (which may or may not be inside your body). I agree with you about microcode, though, but I think AMD is working on opening some microcode in their GPUs (I’m not sure about CPUs), which is great! You can just do your own thing, I prefer to use free software when I can and settle with proprietary code I can’t change, other people likes to settle with proprietary systems and a small group likes to force free software in everything they can. I can still help with donations, reporting issues (my favorite part about FOSS/OSS is clear communication) and helping the community until I’m knowledgeable enough in programming.

Btw, I don’t think we have to always settle, we can still fight and get things changing for the better. It may take some time, but I think it’s worth it.

I found a small command to run KDE Spectacle (screenshot software) with Tesseract so I can OCR a screenshot if I want to, I only had to install Tesseract and a main language, you could easily do the same with an API and/or a local AI.

I think tools like YaST help to save time, instead of editing the bootloader in config files, you can simply enter, search for “Boot Loader” and edit there, be following a tutorial or official documentation. I sometimes prefer to use YaST just so I don’t do things wrong. it’s like the old Control Panel in Windows.

I use Canva in the browser, but I gotta say that it works better in Microsoft Edge than in Firefox. I think it may be a Chromium thing, but I haven’t tested other browsers.

To be honest, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint was the most mid, regular, non-surprising game I’ve played in years. I know they tried later to make it better, but it was just so empty and repetitive, like The Division 2.

Wildlands surprised me multiple times, Breakpoint only made me ask myself multiple times: why is this not possible?, why do I have to do this all over again?, why do we have vehicles if most of the places can’t be reached normally?

Also, The Division 2 was incredibly boring. I really want to like it, but I have to repeat the same things over and over, and you don’t even get good rewards, farming is boring and doesn’t compensate the time spent, at least not like in The Division 1 and its incursions, you were at least guaranteed something.

Syncing files that you may open in both (or more) devices at the same time is unsafe with any service, but you can manage to avoid sync conflicts with KeePass if you do not open the same file at the same time or open the Android app in read-only mode. I’ve only had like 3-4 conflict files this year and they weren’t important.

I second this. I’ve been using it for months, compilation may seem complicated, but you just prepare your environment once and you aren’t bothered again. You can ask for support if you find problems, and you can easily modify and backup your configuration for future uses or just in case :)

Lol, that used to happen to me a lot when I used Windows. I resized my Linux partition and rarely return, I only have the basics installed because of some uni projects that might require Windows software and it still manages to bug while updating or opening Teams

I think the problem is that people use tiktoks as arguments or complete sources rather than an introduction to a topic, which is how I see them. Also, I prefer to see cat videos, memes and other good things, it’s not my main source of information, but a complimentary one; I sometimes leave TikTok because I saw some news or articles that I want to read or fact check :)

Not everyone has to be informed or learn 24/7, but TikTok offers both entertainment an information in a faster way, as I share tiktoks with my friends and they see both my main concerns around the world and cat videos I want them to see. I prefer that they see a 2min. video about our presidential elections than ignore a complete article or news I share in any other social media profile I have.

They added support for longer videos and the algorithm works better than YouTube in my case. I have a feed of recent videos from the people I follow rather than old, new, sponsored and/or recommended videos that YouTube shows even in my subscriptions feed. The main problem I see is minors having access to TikTok (and social media in general), and TikTok should pay attention to this. I still agree with you, but I won’t deny how digestible TikTok has made a lof of information that would, otherwise, be lost and that I can share with my friends easier that sharing a YouTube link and everyone ignoring it.

Just before the API drama, the instance r/Mexico started censoring insults to politicians and mostly to the president. They started trying to monetize something (I’m not sure how) and they didn’t want people screwing things up. They started censoring a lot of content and I abandoned that subreddit. The alternative was a trash place, with racism and general LGBTfobia. Then the API drama started and I just left.

I agree with you in certain points, but there are others that are just wrong. Seem like you didn’t even check what you wrote. Also, you compare it constantly with Chrome, but then in the comments you talk about other Chromium-based browsers that have even less market share, which is it?

I won’t deny that you’re right in some points, but please fact check what you just wrote before complaining.

I’ve been looking into continuing or updating old programs that don’t have maintainers in the FSF/GNU list, but the mailing lists and archaic webpages don’t help much.

I’m still learning, but I’m tired of not seeing enough good FOSS alternatives or only discontinued ones.
