Not the craziest idea, but rich assholes will buy speedboats and ruin it like they do everything else.

The smackdown from his own AI system, ironically, came soon after Musk touted the system to his followers in a tweet reading “Use Grok for answers that are based on up-to-date info!”
Beautiful.
If you think the ads are bad, just wait until you read the comments under videos… even the most benign of topics has some chucklefuck bringing politics into it. Advertisers know where their target audience spends time, unfortunately.
That’s such a waste of card stock. Use a sticky note.
For good measure, throw in a couple of fake screenshots of users on 4chan and Reddit calling him a “script kiddie”. That will get much deeper under his skin than spam will.
You are absolutely correct, but I was trying to avoid being inflammatory and giving an easy strawman when explaining why Trump’s concentration camps are within the realm of possibility.
Concentration camps might be a bit hyperbolic, but that was actually a fairly accurate description of how private prisons manage to make a profit.
Except for a handful of states that passed legislation to prevent it, the 13th amendment makes an exception allowing involuntarily servitude as the punishment for committing crimes. If they manage to create a kangaroo court designed to be a revolving door of convictions for “illegal immigrants”, they absolutely could keep people effectively locked up as slaves for a while.
There was someone on Lemmy saying he’s going to “Make America Healthy Again.” Apparently, the man who chooses McDonalds as his presidential meals is going to reduce food additives and make it cost less for the consumer while doing so.
That’s not the worst idea, actually. If he’s going to grift anyone and contribute to the collapse of some institution for the sake of self-enrichment, it might as well be a cult instead of the public.
The turnout of Democratic voters was lower than previous elections. There are too many variables at play to claim anything definitively, but it’s safe to assume that the number of voters who abstained due to the issue was more than zero.
If a conclusion is going to be drawn about whether the whole genocide topic had a tangible effect on the outcome, it’s important to consider those as well as the protest votes.
I’m not upset about your opinion, nor do I even disagree. Frankly, it’s the most realistic outcome. The condescending way you expressed that opinion is the problem.
Unpasteurized milk itself isn’t the problem. It’s the consequences of trying to milk cows at an industrial scale that are. You simply can’t keep it free from contamination the entire time from the cow to the grocery store shelf.
Without pasteurization, the pathogens that make their way into the milk are going to fester. Fresh milk from a cow isn’t going to kill you, but drinking that just might.
Welcome to Political Humor. Was the humor lost on you, or are you just upset that other people have a right to express opinions that you don’t agree with?
I don’t think he actually cares much about achieving anything spaceflight related. The guy has been hyping up his companies by holding big events for technologies ready in “X years” and consistently failing to deliver on either deadlines, tangible progress, quality, or sometimes all three of those.
I’m under the impression that E-con Musk sees a golden opportunity to use his undeserved status as a competent inventor and businessman as an opportunity to redirect government funds into his own pocket.
Not necessarily. He wouldn’t want anything to happen to the funding that ends up going to himself. He would likely be thrilled if their funding for designing and building their own rockets dried up, though.
It’s right in line with the purpose of DOGE and an easy sell to anybody that doesn’t immediately see the conflict of interest: “Why are we spending $100 million annually to play catch-up with the private sector? Reallocate $80 million to get rockets that work today and save the taxpayers $20 million while doing it.”
Life is worth living. Go on a walk. Make some new friends. You matter.
Ask your doctor if human decency is right for you.
Side effects may include healthy relationships, understanding the difference between right and wrong, happiness, an aversion to predatory advertising, environmental activism, and a good night’s sleep.
If you are pregnant or over the age of 55, you should not stop taking human decency.
Skibidibackrooms?
I think. I’m probably too old to understand what gen alpha will consider childhood nostalgia.
I’m inclined to agree. If an entity is wasting hundreds of millions on a couple of consultants, the problem isn’t the consultants. It’s the people who decided that was a perfectly acceptable expense. If the DNC willingly takes on that debt, they’re not any better.
Assuming/misattributing outrage to the person you replied to and expressing your opposing opinion in a matter-of-fact manner comes off as condescending.
OOP never claimed to be actually outraged. They posted a meme about the struggle of choosing between focusing on one’s own mental health or trying to avoid normalizing a screwed-up situation. The other commenter who made the “not with that attitude” joke didn’t even mention being outraged at all.
Excluding “your” in both of those replies wouldn’t have taken away from the point you were trying to make, and it would have been much better received. Even saying “being outraged” would have been an improvement, as that’s not directed at anyone personally.
