You have to stop projecting the sound from the diaphragm and move it to the throat. Essentially the opposite from singing instructions. It is obviously really bad for the vocal cords.

1·9 months agoSorry, in the last point I meant to say I can’t be a judge on the process, since I don’t belong to the medical field. I hope it gets as good as possible, if that means to give surgery to anyone who asks for it, so be it, I don’t know enough to to decide.
Yeah, that’s why I said that part. Also, a point that is stronger in the book might just be unnoticed in the film, which is what most people know.
The part about the doctors is not that they determine being trans, but that sex reassignment surgery is not done on a whim and doctors have to be convinced that the person is trans and will not regret the decision at a later point. At least for me it gave a glimpse on the process and made a clear distinction: whatever he is or does has nothing to do with being trans.
Even a good will from the author might completely backfire, so I can’t judge about the result. I just thought his intentions do count towards judging him, separated from the character he created.

10·1 year agoShe might not even have known that there is a different way of doing it. The guild had to tell her that she was owed money and benefits. That’s different from taking somebody else’s place. There is probably no entry process for newcomers to lean about better way, since it is not a company but a nebulous industry with thousands of independent actors in the game. That’s why the guild is necessary, it’s impossible to expect each new excited, clueless person with an idea to know and bargain for that on their own.
The problem will persist as long as the exploiters can do it. You will never get every person to individually negotiate the right way.
Game developers should also unionize at industry level. That way new developers would be protected right away and could not be exploited before they realize it. No need to dissuade them, although there probably will not be that many openings that often anymore.
