We may have never met, but we have one thing in common. We may be on different continents, but we’re together in this: We’re not drinking today.

If you want to join us and not drink today you’re welcome!

If you have already drunk today, please come back tomorrow, and good luck!

Feel free to share how your day is going, if you have any struggles, when things are going well, thoughts about things you want to change, etc.

I haven’t drank in almost 3 weeks. I made a big mistake while drunk, and I decided that I should take a break and reassess. I’m going for a month of no drinking.

I’ve found the hardest part has been the habit. Before, I would have a drink with dinner, or I’d order a drink when out for lunch with friends. I ended up opening and pouring a beer before I realized what I was doing. I ended up pouring it down the sink. I started to order a beer at lunch, and had to ask the server to change it to an iced tea.

The habit of having a drink has surprised me. I never realized how ingrained it had become.

Yep depending on how long you’ve been drinking for, the habits are deeply ingrained. Mine go into bigger things than things like dinner: it’s sunny, have a beer; on a train journey, have a beer. I’m only at day 13 in the current cycle but, should I make it that far, I have a train trip to Paris at the end of Sept which will be a challenge

You can’t control tomorrow, but you can control today. And today, you can decide to replace that beer habit with a non-alcoholic drink instead.

I’ve been exploring “mocktails” these last few weeks so that I can still “drink” socially without the alcohol. My friends have been supportive too which helps. Perhaps this could help you. I’d suggest trying it with someone you trust around, in case it backfires and makes you feel the need to drink.

        Here’s to today, friend.
