Fuck yeah!
I’m a surgical tech now, so going in with a decent foundation; but if anyone’s got tips or tricks for a new student, I’m all for it.
Otherwise… just fuck yeah!
Write down deadlines no matter what!
Studying is your new weekend event, nothing else.
Be prepared for man made obstacles to be placed in the way of your success, sometimes they’re setbacks so also be prepared to spend a bit longer than other if your school allows for that. It won’t matter though, you’ll have your license no matter how long it takes.
Patients aren’t evil, just human, the institutional policies and regulations are what dehumanizes you. Some say to get desensitized ASAP, I say try and keep it. All it takes is one really good encounter to change someone’s life.
The nicer you are to your pharm techs, the quicker they’ll run that stat order up to you. Meanies and people who don’t check stock get their meds tubed up, and the tube system was placed in the ‘60s, big hit or miss lol. Send tubes back pls.
Jump in compression rotations on a code asap. The faster you get used to it, the more efficient you will become. Professional 20 years in service mfs still get the shakes. It’s normal. Probably won’t go away. It means you’re aware that it’s a life or death situation and it’d be concerning if you didn’t feel ANY urgency. Getting ACLS certified makes things easier.
Fuck yeah!!
No tips but fuck yeah!
