Antisemitism as Anti-Europeanism by Proxy
#Europe is simply dealing with its own #cultural issues by projecting them onto the current #conflict in the #Middle #East.

he conflict between #Israel and #Hamas following the latter’s 7 October 2023 terror attack has caused uproar and #reaction in Europe. #Antisemitism is clearly on the rise particularly among left-wing #progressives, while a strong pro-Israel force is defending the #Jewish state and fighting the recent surge of #antisemitism.

The conflict between Jews and #Muslims is indeed steeped in antisemitism; however, in Europe, this term is now used to hide a deeper culture war. On the one hand, it simply conceals a more fundamental #anti-Western cultural #revolution, and on the other it allows for a newfound national and European courage to mask itself as a progressive crusade against a new #Holocaust.

Thus, Israel, for each side, embodies either the confident West or the #colonial oppressor. Europe is simply dealing with its own cultural issues by projecting them on the current conflict in the Middle East. This makes for an unsustainable situation as it highlights the mental acrobatics still needed to simply stand up for European values.

@[email protected] @[email protected] By covering up the occupation of Palestine by not putting human rights and international humanitarian law central in their trade dealings with Israel and by giving Palestinians aid instead of supporting them getting their rights the EU definitely contributed to the attack of Hamas. An occupied people have the right to resist, also with arms.
International law, international humanitarian law and human rights are clear. The EU sees it clearly when Russia breaks them and has been looking the other way when Israel does the same as Russia, for a long, long time. Probably, the weapons and trade deals are more important than those “European values.” In that sense, the EU did push Hamas to attack. As Hamas is responsible for its own actions, so is the Israeli government and army and everybody living there on stolen land and in stolen houses.

Where I’m at, when the Europeans came, they decimated our population, put those who survived either on chains or at their service, robed all the gold and silver, taught us for centuries to hate ourselves over being brown, and imposed their beauty and cultural standards as superior, and when we finally thought we kicked them out, they remained the owners of everything via capitalism and imperialism. So I really wouldn’t know about this “multicultural Europe” of yours.

@[email protected] multicultural Europe is about current European union. I know in history a lot of horrible things have happened. The context of the article that I have shared analyzes the present. what do you think about anti-Semitism, is it really that the policy of the European Union is using it in its favor?
