To be fair: I think voting has its place as a supplementary activity. After all, the ruling class is telling on themselves with their gutting of the voting rights act or looking for sneaky loopholes like election day being on a working day: hoping the poor will just be too busy to vote, especially at more regional or local levels of a country.
The problems with voting are more the mentalities of:
Voting is probably the easiest form of political participation and it’s definitely the form that gets the most press coverage. Leftists can take advantage of those things, as shown by the “uncommitted” votes going on now.
