I don’t know where the grind is. Every area is kind of capped. You level up to the area’s strength very quickly and then no amount of grinding really makes you much stronger. I honestly felt like there was too little grind for a game of its style, if anything.
And yeah, I completely agree with you about the stakes thing, and I assure you it is not a problem Crosscode has.
I was playing the game wrong for my first few hours and just fighting enemies instead of doing quests and getting better gear. Might be what he was doing too.
I tried it and it just seemed so damn grindy
Also never liked the .hack style thing where they know they’re in a video game, it makes the stakes feel so low
It’s not grindy if you do the "side"quests, which are all usually quite unique and worth it.
That changes later on
For me though the best part was the fast-paced difficult (specially endgame and post-game) yet fun and engaging combat.
