Hey Melbourne Metro if you could turn the heat down on the trains that would be super, because I didn’t feel like sitting on the surface of the sun today.

This isn’t my job and you cant keep asking me to do shit cause ya’ll cant be fucked doing the work yourselves or even trying to figure it out”. Didnt even make it to 10am before I gave up today.

I had absolutely wild dreams last night. First part of my dreams consisted of evacuating a high rise when the fire alarms went off, but I said “yeah nah fuck off I’m 47 stories up” and took the lift. Second dream consisted of being in Frankston for some reason, and there were SES people putting out a fire and removing a downed tree from the road. But they found illegal fireworks, and they took them home and set them off that night. But they screwed it up and blew up the entirety of Frankston. Third dream consisted of random bugs killing each other, it was really weird and uncomfortable, but not a nightmare

Mine was about a fire too I think, or something was going to explode. And you knew everyone was gonna die but its like it was stuck on rails and you couldnt change the outcome. Deeply disturbing.

So I got sent a link to view the ct scans of my face, from the radiology department.

I have never seen the inside of my face before, it’s super wild! I can scroll up and down through the ‘slides’ and like, move back and forth and up and down these scans of my head.

I feel a tad ick, all the nerves in my face are tingling now that I’m aware 👀 but it’s also really cool!

It also confirms what I have long suspected, that my skull is quite empty and cavernous.

Worth having a look at whats using all your juice. And that your power company is not sticking it to you. Ovo was cheapest last time I looked.

Would it work out cheaper to buy a couple of the $15 heaters from Kmart and plug them in each room you want heated? Might not be able to heat while rooms, but surely at those prices, it’s better to use hearing to take the edge off, and using layers and savvy planning for the rest (ie only heat the rooms people are in, and try to concentrate everyone into as few places as practical)?

Had a new client assigned yesterday and one shift proved it wasn’t going to fly.
The co-ordinator was so quick to agree that I shouldn’t go again (and wanting to know what happened in detail) that I suspect this isn’t their first rodeo with her.
As I said to a friend, I’m too old and not getting paid enough to deal with that BS.

Almost nearing the end of this retaining wall. my new best friend is a cheapo ozito corded drill. Had to get some screws through pretty thick metal fence posts which the way more expensive cordless one couldn’t and it worked. So satisfying seeing the sleepers snap in flush when the screw goes through the post.

Can’t believe I haven’t fucked it up yet or injured myself (not including back) which is amazing.

Lol, the ABC’s doing 1am Wednesday quizzes now.

Are you smarter than a year 9 student?

9/10, I got the 24hr one wrong. But in my defence, it’s 2am and I’m in bed about to do sleepy-doos. Apparently I’m in the top 36% of quizzers, which I guess says a lot about the average person taking a random quiz at 1am on Wednesday morning. Also, seeing as I barely passed year 9 and didn’t take the NAPLAN, I count that as an absolute win. Go me.

I got that one ‘wrong’ too. Ugly construction of question, not entirely correct, and very outdated. The rationale is to connect all the adjectives that describe the noun ‘train pass’. Which contains another adjective - ‘train’. So why didn’t they hyphenate ‘train’ and ‘pass’? I wouldn’t call their ‘correct’ choice as normal usage here in Aus. Maybe hyphenate ‘twenty-four’ cos this functions as a single word but the ‘hour’ surely doesn’t need it for clarity any more than ‘train-pass’ does. Bad question really.

Twenty-four is what I went with too. I probably wouldn’t have known that if I took this a couple of years ago, I only learnt there’s “meant” to be a hyphen somewhere in there because I started using a grammar tool on my emails, and it always yells at me for not hyphenating enough

Question 3 is deliberately misleading and wrong. It should be ‘24 hour ticket’. I wouldn’t hyphenate at all (see Goonsey) and no-one writes out time like that. In fact the classic “elements of style” which is a writing bible says you should use numerals for numbers greater or equal to 10 and write them out in words less than that.

That question is some stupid twat adult getting their kicks by making 14 year olds squirm. Or an adult who doesn’t know their grammar.

I’m so annoyed at myself. Was supposed to do a fasting blood test this morning but I stupidly didn’t put a reminder to not eat on my phone… And I rarely eat breakfast, but I’m WFH today and well, wouldn’t today just be the day I go “oh! Leftover pasta, I’d better eat that” and I remember the blood test RIGHT as I finish eating… fuck. now I have to wrangle getting tested at 8 tomorrow before heading back to work.

Also very annoyed at uni who in their infinite wisdom have centralised all standard extension requests (NOT special consideration), and noooo a drs. cert isn’t enough, they need to file a fucking special form outlining exactly how the illness hampered your ability to study. It’s enough for my workplace that actually pays me money but it’s not enough for a course that I’m paying to do?? Fuck these guys man, I will be glad to never deal with them again once I’m done with this course

How does this sound for the title of a cricket themed/haunted mansion story: Caught and Ghouled (a play on caught and bowled).

Otherwise I’m stuck with the temporary title of ‘The Haunted Mansion’ which is overplayed.

Urgh, what happened to the nice weather these past two days?

In between reading adult books, I tend to read some Goosebumps or Fear Street as a palate cleanser and also remind me of my childhood and also get me in the mood writing that kind of horror for kids.

Currently reading one of the Fear Street books and the main character wakes up thinking someone is trying to break in because of the news saying there’s a prowler breaking into houses. She screams, her parents come in, turns out it’s the classic tree branch tapping on the window. So then the Dad takes her into their bedroom, opens the bedside table and shows her the gun he has to protect them from any intruders and how ‘it’s always loaded’ and ‘right here’ and I know it’s blatantly Chekhov’s Gun but as I read it, I couldn’t help but laugh and think ‘this is so America.’
