“Never in its 50-plus years in existence has the regulator issued new rules for automakers requiring them to change their vehicle designs to better prevent pedestrian fatalities.”

@[email protected] And affordable vehicles from overseas can’t be legal here, oh no! they wouldn’t be safe, what with all the damn soccermom tanks on the road/… Just about every state will just refuse to register them if you do manage to get one… :-/
@[email protected] A huge first step, but it might be years before this finds its way to the assembly line, as auto manufacturers will not only need to redesign, but retool for the manufacturing process. This would also be the case for suppliers.
I don’t think what you said is correct; indeed, almost all blanket statements on the internet are wrong
I know nothing about this subject, yet it took about a min to find this

@[email protected] Well that was a quote from the article, but thanks for sharing the links!
@[email protected] so you quoted something that you yourself can’t verify
I understand that most people consider this std practice, but I find it odd, but then again look at my screen name
@[email protected] Briefly unblocking you to say, there are ways to correct people without being rude. Something to perhaps work on. Wish you all the best.
About fuckin’ time.
The UN Regulations, used everywhere in the world except the US* regulatory island, have had increasingly-stringent pedestrian-protection requirements for years.
NHTSA claim the proposed US rule is estra-stringent, but they also insist, pull the string and listen to 'em go, with zero basis in reality, that US-spec vehicles are the safest in the world.
*Canada is handcuffed, by industry insistence, to the US rules.
