Police are investigating what appears to be gunfire damage overnight at a Democratic Party-coordinated campaign office for Vice President Kamala Harris.
The incident occurred just a few days before Harris is scheduled to visit Arizona as she campaigns for president.
“We can confirm that on 9/23/24, what appears to be damage from gunfire at … a DNC Campaign Office, was discovered,” the Tempe Police Department said in a statement to NBC News on Tuesday.
The office is shared by staff for the Arizona Democratic Party, the Harris campaign, and Senate and House campaigns, to boost turnout for the party in November.

Good job, MAGA dumbass. You achieved nothing.
I mean, terrorism doesn’t require anyone getting hurt or any significant amount of damage. It’s to strike fear and disrupt. This… does just that.
Did it disrupt anything? I doubt it.
Yeah, these things need to be investigated, the building needs to be repaired, they will need heightened security, some people will be uncomfortable coming to work knowing that they could be a target.
It’ll cause fear and people won’t feel safe working in that particular office likely. I know I wouldn’t.
This is a Harris campaign office in Arizona. If you are going to work there without knowing you’re in a place that will be targeted, you’re pretty naïve.
I don’t think everyone working there expected to be shot at. I don’t think it would deter me, being so awesome and whatnot, but I wouldn’t expect everyone to react that way.
I guess if I were going to a place like that every day in a state where it’s going to be hotly contested in an election year full of stochastic terrorism against the left, I would absolutely be ready for something like this.
No.
No you would not, you may have made contingencies in case it happened, but you would absolutely be affected by it and have your day disrupted.
I’m surprised to see this getting down voted. The Trump cultists are a powder keg, I wouldn’t feel safe in any building associated with Democrats or the Harris campaign personally. It’s not really a surprise they are shooting out windows, these are pissed off people with guns who believe a bunch of crazy shit. If you’re working in a building like this and you didn’t consider this possibility then you are naive to the reality of what you’re up against.
They are uncivilized savages and should be handled as such.
Can you not see a difference between “I know I’m working in an unpopular place”, and “holy crap they actually shot at us”?
It’s in Tempe, which is a college town and usually a lot more “variety of ideas friendly” area. It’s a big ass state, not gone down the rabbit hole of how gerrymandered we might be, but I’m listed in a town by address that is nowhere near where my “local” library, grocery, etc which is another town.
There is a lot of wild west expanse and geriatric retirement that keeps a red hold, Tempe isn’t far from Phoenix downtown where I went to a fucking awesome Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, The Linda Linda’s concert last week. I was quite impressed at the the number of both old and young punks that showed up and packed the place! Openly anti trump remarks through the show… not too many left early even, despite the traffic… hmmm…
And, this shit was done overnight, who the hell did they think they might get, janitorial staff? Random underpaid security guard? What fucking dickbags man. Random violence is bad, putting people just doing their jobs, regardless of political affiliation, is just really poor form.
I saw the negativity points to your remark, which should generally be “well yeah… it’s the wild red west?!” Thought some of this may shed a light on that response?
(And, wanted to squeeze in that my old ass stayed up for a whole Green Day show, on a school night!)
Edit: btw, I live in bfe, no way in hell am I putting on a bumper sticker or a sign in my yard. Out of town, there’s lots of crazies with guns. Edit, edit: fixed a, guess half of a sentence got typed… elsewhere?
They weren’t trying to shoot anyone, they were trying to make people afraid by putting bullet holes in the building with less chance of getting caught.
Probably true, since they are a bunch of cowards without their guns and anonymity.
Election workers are afraid, some are quitting and being replaced with stooges. We can say that these campaigners are also shaken. You and I can’t put ourselves in their shoes and understand how this may affect them psychologically. Look at the news reporting that Trump has been shaken and is possibly losing it after each attempt on his life.
META: Also, FlyingSquid responded to me!!! Ahhhh!!!
LOL! FlyingSquid not talking to someone on Lemmy.world is the rarity.
How DO you manage to do it so much? Do you comment more per hour, or spend more hours per day?
Or are FlyingSquid a collective consciousness wielding more limbs for typing than any singular human?
Do I need to, once again, explain how I’m very sick long-term and have very little energy and am stuck in a town where I don’t know anyone besides my family and I don’t have much else to do?
Because I can go into more details, but it’s exhausting.
Oh no, I’m sorry. You have my empathy and I hope what can improve about your situation does in time.
Thank you.
Wow, I too was so surprised when the most active account on Lemmy was active
Just wait, it’s the local glass replacement guy and he’s desperate for business…
I wonder if it’s the same guy that shot at his opponent’s house last election cycle.
