Sometimes I wonder if the general populace is, whether by nature, material conditions, or education, too stupid for nuanced satire. Hell, not even actual nuance, but just anything not literally explaining the true intended message somewhere in the story.

I mean look what happened after Fight Club was adapted into a movie like two decades ago. Did people realize how alienated late capitalism is making us? Did they try to form new ways for men to connect with each other that broke the confines of toxic masculinity? Not in any appreciable way. What they did start doing is meeting up to beat the shit out of each other.

  • The concern is that scammers can create fake phishy versions of sites that end in “__x.com” as ___twitter.com to trick Twitter users into divulging passwords or other sensitive info. Because to the Twitter user it’ll look like the genuine site that ends with __x.com on the Twitter app but it won’t actually be.

Some examples of sites already made to prevent scammers from using them are:
Netflitwitter, Ametwitter, Fedetwitter, and Roblotwitter, dot com, which falsely showed as Netflix, Amex, FedEx, and Roblox, dot com.
Though I think they (xitter programmers) already manually added exceptions for the examples that trended which stopped that from happening, for those specific examples.

For Yu-Gi-Oh they actually do have the authority to give stinky people a loss and demand they leave and only come back if showered and in clean clothes.
It’s not an explicit rule for MtG though.
I’m also not sure if the rule is global or just NA only. But I’d think it’d apply everywhere.

Duelists are expected to be showered and appropriately groomed when they enter a tournament. Neglecting to wash or put on clean clothes contributes to an unpleasant atmosphere at the event, as the tournament can be crowded, and the day can be long.

Duelists who neglect self-care to the point that they are negatively impacting the tournament may be asked to correct the issue in order to continue in the event.

  • I used to maintain a poverty skills group and I had both multiple rules and copy/paste templates about how frugality is both NOT the same and how some of it is NOT welcome either.

The “frugal” people would inevitably pull shit like benefits shame and tell people whose immediate choice was either prepare and eat perfectly edible food past the best by or starve, that “it’s better to be safe than sorry.” They’d also tell people who just didn’t have any money in their bank account to spend more to save more. To buy a warehouse membership or stock up on sales (with what money?) then store it in their extra freezer (that they didn’t own).

Dealing with “frugal” people was legit the worst part of it by far. So much more time spent on them and trying to minimize the damage their “advice” could do than trolling spamming or any other conventional bad behavior.

It’s a very general term but I’ve come to believe “frugality” usually tends to describe well off people consciously skrimping in mostly trivial ways to give themselves extra expendable money.

People who experienced abject poverty might deliberate over every purchase even at the dollar store. But from my experience they’re still generous with sharing necessary supplies and/or food with friends. It’s those that are saving up for a new second car who tend to act “frugal.”
