  • going thru this myself right now - here’s some questions to ask yourself to help you decide

    • do you hate it? Do you dread getting in it and going places, and would a nicer, newer car fix that?
    • does it present immediate safety liability?
    • do you fix it yourself? If not, and you want to, would now be a good time for you to learn to? If you do fix it yourself, is it a drag, or do you get any joy out of it?
    • are your repairs reactive, or proactive? Has the car being broken ever impacted your plans?
    • is it cheap to fix, or is it expensive?
    • would there be a significant difference in fuel economy from switching?
    • how are insurance rates on your old car versus your new car?

Spend like thirty seconds each thinking about these questions and you might have your answer

  • Obviously when treading in this discussion, it is necessary to genuflect and state that Biden and his entire cabinet would see [redacted] under any ethical system of government

but playing with this logic a little bit, wasn’t 1% of Hitler about a hundred thousand dead? Naturally if I say I have a preference, people will assume that I think that voteing and doing nothing else politically ever is the ideal leftist strategy, but like, if it’s just bubbling in a bubble and then getting back to the orgs, is there a reason that 99% Hitler and 100% Hitler have no meaningful differences, even if that ratio is correct?

  • Things Project 2025 wants to see that we will definitely not see under Biden:

    • Dismantle the EPA and NOAA
    • Invoke the insurrection act to punish anyone who called Jan 6th an attempted coup
    • Dismantle the department of education
    • classify those who talk about being transgender as child sex offenders
    • Fire the entire FDA and replace them with people handpicked to ban mifepristone and misoprostol
    • Raise the bottom income tax bracket from 10% to 15%, lower the top income tax bracket from 37% to 30%, lower the corporate tax rate from 21% to 18%
    • Rescind gender identity, sexual orientation, and sex as protected classes
    • “the largest domestic deportation operation in history” (yikes)
    • implement unitary executive theory

That’s just an assortment, it’s not all and it’s not the worst things. It’s just a little different from blue MAGA.

  • You’re confusing having more/less resources with having a better/worse life - under communism, nobody will have even a fraction of the personal property resources the average westoid, even the average poor westoid, has. Yet, they will still all have a dramatically better life than the average westoid. This is because communism’s quality of life foundation will be built on forming society to fulfill human needs like security and community through what it should have been fulfilled through to begin with - community-forward organization, collective care, and collective resource utilization.

Another thing to mention with this line of reasoning - westoids, particularly American westoids, have more material resources than any other -oids in the world, yet have a shockingly low quality of life to show for it. Turns out having your entire waking life wrung out for profit and marketization will do that to ya.

I think the west owes an unpayable debt to the global south and the only way the global south will be able to cash in on it is if they engage in the same colonial behavior that was done to them against the imperial core

I think the global south should strip the west far more than the west stripped it, I see it as a necessary bit of revenge.

apropos of nothing, how do you feel about punitive versus restorative justice?

    because

the idea that the global north should be punished by the global south, particularly the idea of this as its own end, and not that the global south should be given justice and restored what has been taken from it, shows a pretty deep internalization that punitive justice is still the right system, it’s just in the wrong hands.

The idea that “the only way the global south will be able to cash in on it is if they engage in the same colonial behavior that was done to them against the imperial core” additionally validates colonialism as an effective way to secure quality-of-life gain. why-shouldnt-i
