I am aghast at how difficult interviews are compared to literally every aspect of most jobs I’ve had.

We had school houses and stuff, which I feel like sorta was intended to train us for in-group out-group dynamics and competition. But I haven’t seen those in a while other than in Harry Potter.

I remember getting the occasional participation medal for like… Sports things that I was bad at as a kid. After a certain age, the kids doing extra-curriculars were the ones who wanted to be there. This was maybe mid-90s only around grade 1-3? I only really remember feeling condescended to, I don’t feel like they occurred frequently enough or in… Earnest enough situations for them to really affect anything.

Hot weather is more forgivable (if you develop that sweat layer between the bus and the games store), but seriously wash your clothes daily and your butt whenever you shower (which may be twice daily depending on the environment). Also bring water everywhere (stores are so weird about letting people use the employee bathroom, even for regulars)

That said, I was recently on a camping trip where it was around 36 degrees celsius and dusty as hell and the showers went down because sewage outflow filled up. Everyone felt super gross and smelly.

One could, indeed, argue that consulting firms make their bread and butter by not having things work but fixed temporarily.

Note on toilet water, most other countries have substantially lower amounts of toilet water in their bowls. This looks like a normal amount of water to me. You can tell where the water is supposed to be by the scunge layer line.
