Contemporary Afrikaana music is often funny in a “so bad it becomes funny” way. Like how does one listen to artists like snotkop and Jan Jan band, and think it’s good music? It’s obviously a joke. The problem is that this kind of irony is way overdone in Afrikaans musiek, so no one takes it seriously or listens. I refuse to listen to that kind of nonsense to be honest.
